Contract Mode: EPC
Time: 2017 – 2019
Project Description:
• 100 KTA Butadiene via Oxidative Dehydrogenation Unit and Catalyst (Wison Technology)
• Achieved full-process start-up within 5 days of feed introduction, breaking the industry record for start-up time of similar units
• Successfully produced premium-grade butadiene with a purity of up to 99.9%
• Catalyst performance met the requirements of the signed technical agreement, demonstrating excellent reaction characteristics
A company in Jiangsu successfully implemented WEL’s licensed BDH® butene oxidative dehydrogenation technology under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for a 100,000 tons/year butadiene plant, efficiently producing high-grade butadiene. This project stands as the second commercial application of Wison’s technology and catalysts and is notable for integrating Methanol-to-Olefins (MTO) with butadiene production. The facility employs C4 streams derived from the MTO process as feedstock, utilizing a large-diameter single-reactor design alongside Wison's proprietary catalysts and online regeneration technology, enhanced by several innovative process improvements.
On May 8, 2019, the plant was delivered to high standards and began feeding on August 7. Within less than five days of commissioning, it successfully completed the entire process and produced high-grade butadiene with a purity of 99.9% by August 11. The plant achieved first-time startup success, setting a new industry record for the shortest startup time among similar facilities. Following performance assessments, all indicators met or exceeded design specifications, establishing it as the only butene oxidative dehydrogenation plant to pass performance testing.
