Project Owner
Shandong Yuhuang Chemical (Group) Co., Ltd.
Contract Mode: E
Time: 2014 – 2015
Project Description:
• Butadiene via Oxidative Dehydrogenation Unit and Catalyst (Wison Technology)
• The first unit licensed with Wison’s BDH® technology
• Catalyst achieved continuous operation exceeding 3,000 hours
• n-Butene conversion: 80.0%, butadiene selectivity: approximately 93%, yield: over 74%
WEL’s BDH® technology was first implemented in a 70,000 tons/year butadiene plant in Shandong. This retrofit project began in August 2014 and succeeded in achieving a one-time startup in April 2016. The upgrade utilized Wison’s efficient oxidative dehydrogenation catalysts and energy-optimized processes. The catalysts demonstrated outstanding continuous operation for over 3,000 hours while maintaining high activity, thereby eliminating the need for regeneration. The n-butene conversion rate reached 80.0%, with butadiene selectivity around 93% and an overall yield exceeding 74%. This not only saved the client significant equipment costs but also reduced butadiene production expenses by 1,400 CNY per ton, leading to a substantial enhancement in economic benefits. On October 27, 2017, the unit was evaluated by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, which confirmed that "the results are overall at an internationally advanced level, with the yield of the new butene oxidative dehydrogenation catalyst being at a leading international standard."
