Eight Projects Among China’s Top 100 Milestone Projects—WEL Advances High-Quality Development in China’s Chemical Construction
On November 30, 2025, the China Chemical Engineering Construction Enterprises Association held a grand symposium titled "Four Decades of Development Review and Future Prospects" in Beijing. Centered around the theme "Forty Years of Solid Practice, Forging Ahead with Renewed Vigor", the symposium comprehensively reviewed the development journey of the chemical construction industry since the association's establishment in 1985 and looked forward to the new journey of the "15th Five-Year Plan". During the symposium, the "1985-2024 China’s Top 100 Milestone Projects in Chemical Construction" list was released, in which Wison Engineering Ltd. secured a place for eight of its jointly constructed projects on the list, showcasing the company's outstanding comprehensive capabilities. Additionally, Wison Engineering CEO Zhou Hongliang was honored as an "Association Four-Decade Torchbearer for Development".

As an engineering company specializing in oil and gas processing, petrochemicals, C1 chemical engineering, and new energy, Wison Engineering's eight selected projects span multiple critical fields, including ethylene, methanol-to-olefins (MTO), purified terephthalic acid (PTA), and coal chemical engineering. This fully demonstrates the company's technical expertise and project execution capabilities in high-end chemical engineering construction.

In terms of technological breakthroughs, the modular construction technology for the cracking furnace of Zhejiang Petrochemical's 1,400 KTA ethylene unit won the first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award from the China Installation Association. This technology not only filled a domestic gap and significantly shortened project timelines but also provided a replicable "Chinese solution" for the factory prefabrication and integrated transportation and installation of large-scale petrochemical equipment. Furthermore, Shandong Yangmei Hengtong's 300 KTA methanol-to-olefins (MTO) unit was successfully commissioned in June 2015, achieving full-process integration and producing qualified olefin products in just 23 hours. The ethylene and propylene recovery rates reached 99.89% and 99.96%, respectively, setting a global industry record at the time.

In the field of green development, Zhejiang Dushan Energy's 2.2 MTPA PTA project adopted advanced technology from British Petroleum (BP), reducing solid waste by 95%, greenhouse gases by 65%, and wastewater by 75% compared to traditional methods. Its energy efficiency indicators lead the way among similar domestic installations. The Shanxi Lu'an High-Sulfur Coal Clean Utilization project, relying on Shell's pulverized coal gasification technology, achieved a daily coal feed capacity of 3,200 tons per unit, making it the largest and most efficient gasification unit globally at the time and providing a significant practice for the clean and efficient utilization of coal. Additionally, the Nanjing Chengzhi Yongqing 100 KTA butadiene unit utilized Wison Engineering's proprietary technology, with its oxidation dehydrogenation catalyst exclusively supplied by Wison. This technology was evaluated by experts from the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation as "overall at an internationally advanced level, with the product yield of the novel butene oxidation dehydrogenation catalyst ranking among the world's leading".

This recognition not only represents high acclaim for Wison Engineering's years of dedication to the chemical construction sector and its role in empowering industrial upgrades through technological innovation but also reflects earnest expectations for the company to lead industry development during the critical transition period of the energy and chemical industries. Taking this as a new starting point, Wison Engineering will continue to increase its investment in innovation, align closely with the "Dual Carbon" goals and the theme of green transformation, and focus on key areas such as new energy technologies and high-end chemicals. By overcoming critical technological bottlenecks and developing integrated service models, the company strives to create more benchmark projects that are technologically advanced, green, and low-carbon. Wison Engineering is committed to contributing more "Chinese wisdom" and "Wison strength" to promote the high-quality development of China's chemical industry and support the sustainable progress of the global energy and chemical sector.
