WEL and Clariant Deepen Strategic Partnership to Enhance Competitiveness Across the Ethylene Value Chain
On December 5, Wison Engineering Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Wison Engineering”) and Clariant Chemicals Technology (Shanghai) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Clariant”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on ethylene business at Clariant’s Greater China headquarters. This marks a further step in implementing their collaboration following the signing of the overall strategic cooperation framework agreement in November 2024. Leveraging their respective strengths in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) and catalytic technology, the two companies will engage in close collaboration across the ethylene-related value chain. Starting from catalyst characteristics and process technology optimization, they will jointly explore optimized solutions for the production of ethylene and its derivatives, aiming to create greater value for their customers.

For years, Clariant and Wison Engineering have maintained close collaboration and exchange across multiple forward-looking technological areas. Their teams have closely aligned with market needs, continuously expanding the scope of cooperation under the broader context of sustainable development, exploring innovative opportunities in low-carbon, green, and high-value-added areas, and work together to advance the upgrading of the petrochemical industry while seeking new development pathways.

Mr. Zhao Shizhong, Head of Global Strategic Partner Development of Clariant Catalysts Business Unit, stated that as an important partner of Clariant in China, Wison Engineering has worked hand-in-hand with Clariant for over a decade. The two companies have built strong mutual trust and synergy across multiple projects and technological areas, and the new round of strategic cooperation is expected to further strengthen combined advantages across the ethylene and derivatives value chain.

Mr. Li Baoyou, Vice President of Wison Engineering, noted that Clariant possesses deep technical expertise in catalysts and specialty chemicals. He emphasized that both sides will adopt a more open approach and a longer-term strategic perspective to focus on key areas such as high-end chemical industry development and green, low-carbon initiatives. Together, they aim to further strengthen “technology + engineering” collaborative innovation, create new business opportunities, and achieve more valuable cooperative outcomes.

In this new phase of cooperation, Wison Engineering and Clariant will continue to leverage their respective strengths, driving the implementation of technological innovation and green, low-carbon transformation across more projects, and consistently contributing their expertise to the high-quality development of the energy and chemical industries.
