June 5th marks the 50th World Environment Day.
On June 5, 1972, the United Nations convened the first-ever Human Environment Conference in Stockholm, where the renowned "Declaration of the Human Environment" and "Action Plan" aiming to protect the global environment were adopted, along with the slogan "Protecting and Improving the Environment for This Generation and Future Generations".
Recognizing the increasing impact of plastic on the natural environment and human health, this year's World Environment Day message from the United Nations Environment Program is "Plastic Cleanup and Collection", while the theme of this year's Environment Day in our country is "Building Modernization for Harmonious Coexistence between Man and Nature".
Wison Takes Action
Wison has always championed the environmental protection ideals of "harmonious coexistence between man and nature" and "green development" for all employees. Starting with small actions, we collectively fulfill our environmental responsibilities to care for the environment and build a beautiful home. In response to this year's World Environment Day, Wison Engineering and Wison New Energies jointly organized a "Plastic Collection" environmental activity at the Nanhui Estuary Observation Park on the morning of June 4. The QHSE departments of WEL and WNE made careful preparations for the event, with nearly 50 volunteers from the two entities, along with their family members, actively participating.
On the bus to the event location, participants engaged in a quiz on environmental knowledge, fostering camaraderie and deepening ecological awareness, followed by volunteers donning gloves, picking up trash bags, and immediately undertaking the role of "cleaning crew". They meticulously cleared plastic waste, including beverage bottles, foam, and plastic bags, from under the breakwater's concrete beams and "twisted king blocks".
Despite the limited number of volunteers in the "plastic collection" team, their enthusiasm and action were evident. After an hour of work, the volunteers had cleaned up over 20 large bags of plastic waste and white litter within a 1000-meter stretch of the dike.
Every day is an environmental day, and everyone is an activist. On June 5th, World Environment Day, WEL& WNE called on all employees to make environmental commitments: conserve water, electricity, and paper; decisively combat the use of disposable products; adopt green travel to reduce carbon emissions. The activity received a positive response from Wison personnel, with everyone eagerly signing the environmental commitment board and pressing their handprints on a tree representing environmental care and nurturing greenery.
As each handprint was imprinted on the branches, the small tree symbolizing green growth transformed from "new shoots budding" to "a tree blossoming with flowers". This blossoming process represents everyone's aspirations and heartfelt wishes for a beautiful environment.
Every commitment and action by Wison employees supports environmental protection and drives the realization of "Building Modernization for Harmonious Coexistence between Man and Nature". As proactive promoters and doers of ecological civilization construction, Wison employees are on the move and will continue to take action!
